Many IBA projects will be completed, opened or presented in the New Year. Here is a short preview of these projects:
· During the topping out ceremony in summer 2006 (see Newsletter82), Brandenburg’s Prime Minister, Matthias Platzeck, was present – now the diving school will be opened at Lake Gräbendorfer See for the start of the 2007 water sport season (the exact time will be published at a later date).
· The historical power plant Plessa will soon be 80 years old. To celebrate the anniversary, the first section of the restoration work in the Plessa power plant will be finished. On 1st May, there will be a new opening of the Plessa power plant as an event power station.
· The F60 will also celebrate its birthday. On 5th May, the visitors’ mine will have its 5th birthday. On this occasion, the new “ENERGY Route Lusatian Industrial Culture“ will be officially introduced.
· The historical bypass way in the Branitzer Park marking the border of the so-called outer park, is being restored at present. In May, the first construction section will be completed and inaugurated within the framework of a bicycle and carriage tour.
· Half of the restoration work at the Bio Towers in Lauchhammer has already been com-pleted (see Newsletter 85). In July one of the tower groups will be opened as a public lookout tower.
· In the past year, the construction requirements were created for the Lusatian Lakeland landmark in terms of building laws and finances (see Newsletter 66). In the second half of the year 2007, the tower shall be constructed and opened based on a design by Giers & Giers (Munich/Wettenberg).
